LOL I knew it would have been in the background in one of our vacation pictures...

RE: any green egg owners here?

Sorry guys!!! A big green egg is wonderful! My hubby has had his large for 3 years now. I had told him that I wanted to get him a smaller one for the RV. It seems like there are minimal issues traveling with one. Thanks for the feedback and sorry for any confusion. as a side note, the big green egg is truly wonderful for smoking bbq, but if you like steaks this thing can make them better than your favorite steak house in about 6-8 minutes. :) Charlotte

RE: Satellite Watching

My parents live on Hubbard Lake in northeastern MI. They are out in the middle of nowhere and at the same time every night I would watch a satellite move through the sky. It looked like a star that was moving fast. Next time I am up there I will have to watch again. It was always in the same place every night.

RE: Stopping the 'source' of unwanted pets, is the solution

Virtually all pet stores that sell cats and dogs get their animals from puppy mills, May I add that they also charge a whole heck of a lot more for their puppies versus a reputable breeder. I doubt I will ever pay over a grand for a puppy. Our newest dog found us...she is a beautiful beagle and is now spayed. She is one of the best dogs I have ever owned. :D

any green egg owners here?

Just curious if you have one at home, have you entertained the idea of purchasing a smaller one for camping or your RV?

RE: Worst dish mom made?

My mom used to and probably still does make chicken gizzards boiled with noodles. She never would read package directions so her mac and cheese would always be runny, her spaghetti was greasy, but every time I visit I HAVE to have her fried chicken...some of the best I have ever tasted. One time when I was very little my dad made me scrambled eggs. I held them in my mouth until my mom came home from work and I spit them into her hands. I remember sucking the juice out of them til this day. I was probably 18 months old or so at the time.

RE: Worst dish mom made?

My parents went through a "poor" period while I was growing up and mom would try to sneak dried milk into a regular milk carton and mix artificial hamburger into our hamburgers. Neither one was palletable to me. And lest I forget, canned asparagus boiled until it was mush because al dente wasn't known about in the 60's. we were broke when I was small and let me just say that powdered milk was disgusting!!! However like I tell my son now... you take what you get and don't mind a bit. ;)

RE: How do you clean the awning?

Carefree awning manual I found this after the question of damage was raised. Would Mr.Clean be considered abrasive? I wouldn't think so...

RE: Just spent the night at High Falls state park in GA.

We're only about 15 mins from High Falls and 30 from Indian Springs. We got to both often between fall and spring. Once warm weather hits, we mostly camp at lake for boating. They've done a lot of work at High Falls in last year or so. They cut down lots of trees due to pine beetles and then had to do lots of road work. The upper loop (D I think) had been closed since a bad storm tore lots of it up until this past year also. The park office is also relatively new. Do you have young kids? Or grandkids? If so, Dauset Trails Nature Center between High Falls and Indian Springs is great place to spend afternoon. We actually camped in the D loop, it was extremely nice. We have 3 little ones. 4, 3 and 8 months. A mommy group I am in actually went to Dauset Trails last week. We missed the trip because of vacation bible school. We did see the water slide as we were leaving. We told the boys we would do that next time we stayed there. Maybe we will see ya sometime this summer! :B

RE: RV Shopping is Overwhelming!

We did that same dance!!! We started looking at class A's and then to fifth wheels or tt's because that was more our budget. We ended up getting a 12 year old class A with one slide. it had a little over 30K miles when we purchased it and the interior looked like it rolled off of the showroom floor for the most part. It didn't even smell funny like most used rv's we had seen. We purchased it from an older lady whose husband had passed away. She threw in a brake buddy system and a bike rack for the back. We also got it for 11K less than she was originally asking for. We have been on two trips so far, a 2000 mile trip and a 45 minute overnighter from our home. So far it is worth its weight in Gold!!! Good luck and take your time. For us the first thing that got us thinking about getting into Rving was the thing we went with. It took us over 6 months.

How do you clean the awning?

I have cleaned the roof and washed the RV now I need to know how to clean some of the green and black stuff off of our awning. It isn't too bad, but it does need a good cleaning. How would you recommend I do it and what do I use? Thanks.

Just spent the night at High Falls state park in GA.

We have decided this will be a nice place for us to go a couple times per month. It is only about 45 minutes south of us. It is so peaceful and beautiful. They patrol the area constantly and everyone near us seemed very nice. So if you stay there and see a beautiful Suncruiser with two flying eagles on the back say hi!!! :)

RE: traveling with a small child

My intent on our first trip (18 hour drive) was to keep all 3 of my little ones in their carseats. I did for the most part. Only allowing them freedom to go potty. Our rv does not have seatbelts at the booth seating. On the way back our 8 month old was in her carseat. I had the youngest boy (3 in his carseat) and my oldest (4) strapped in. their carseats are not supposed to be used in the sideways position. Only rear or forward facing. My son's booster is a highback and is only to be used with a 3 point belt. If someone knows of a carseat manufacturer that makes carseats safe to use in the sideways position please let me know. :)I was told by a law enforcement officer that you do not have to use a carseat in a motorhome because it is not considered a passenger vehicle. This is in Georgia and I am sure it differs from state to state. I will say I felt more comfortable with them in their seats, but the trip started to become miserable for them.
